STEPR AIR BIKE

STEPR Bionic Bike XL

The STEPR Bionic Bike XL is an air bike that pushes back as hard as you push it. Drive the pedals harder and the fan has more air to shift, so the machine sets the work rate and you decide how long you can hold it. VPR, STEPR's air resistance system, moves the pitch of internal rotors to control how much air gets displaced, which covers more than one hundred virtual gears on one machine. Dual-position handlebars suit riders big and small. The frame is covered for ten years, parts for three and labor for two.

The frame carries dual-position handlebars built for riders big and small, a seat that resets on a ratchet, and a belt drive at the cranks. Figures read off an industry standard backlit console, and the cover runs ten years on the frame, three on parts and two on labor.

VPR ON AN AIR BIKE

How it works

Most fan bikes give you one curve and leave you to live with it. The Bionic Bike XL moves its rotor pitch while you ride, so one fan covers a warm-up spin and a flat-out effort.

Rotor Pitch On Demand
The hardware is a Variable Pitch Rotor, a turbine style system whose blade angle moves to raise or drop resistance as your output moves.
100+ virtual gears
A Belt At The Cranks
Drive from the pedals reaches the fan through a belt.
Belt drive
One Pull On The Seat Ratchet
Seat height changes on a ratchet, which is what you want when two riders share a garage and neither wants to hunt for a pin.
Ratchet seat
Ten Years On The Frame
STEPR covers the frame for ten years, parts for three and labor for two.

WHY AN AIR BIKE

Key features

An air bike suits training that keeps changing pace. Sprint intervals, short repeats and easy spinning all sit on the same machine with nothing to dial in between them.

FIT

Dual-Position Handlebars For Every Rider

STEPR builds the bars with two positions so riders at either end of the size range find a grip that suits them. The seat moves on a ratchet, which takes one pull to change between users.

  • Two handlebar positions
  • Built for riders big and small
  • Ratchet seat adjustment

RESISTANCE

Air Resistance That Climbs With Cadence

Pedal faster and the fan meets more air, so the load rises with the work you put in. VPR adds to that by turning the rotor pitch, and the result is more than one hundred virtual gears.

  • Air resistance
  • 100+ virtual gears
  • Nothing to dial in mid-effort

THE VPR LINE

How it compares

The four STEPR air ergs share the VPR system, and each one trains a different movement, so the movement you want to repeat every week is the place to start.

Frequently asked questions

Air. The fan is loaded by VPR, which shifts the pitch of internal rotors to control how much air is displaced as you ride.
STEPR uses both. The product listing writes the trademark out as Variable Pitch Resistance, while STEPR's explainer calls the hardware inside the machine a Variable Pitch Rotor. We keep to the trademark, VPR, and leave the expansion to STEPR.
More than one hundred virtual gears, from a light spin through to a heavy push.
They are dual-position bars, and STEPR builds them for riders big and small.
Yes. Seat height runs on a ratchet adjustment, so it changes in one pull.
No. The Bionic Bike XL uses a belt drive.
It is an industry standard console with standard metrics, and the display is backlit.
